Hello hello hello!

How are YOU today? Does it feel a bit more like spring where you are? We have had the most incredible week so far in Boston and you can smell, feel and sense spring everywhere. Rain has now arrived and will stay through the weekend but I can't be bothered…spring is nearly here!

I have a super busy weekend ahead…no rest for the wary over here! But all such good things and new developments.

Let's talk workouts

I have taken about 3 days off this week. They weren't scheduled and I had all intentions of moving straight into month 2 of Chalean Extreme. But…my body was asking for something different. I think I simply wore myself down the last 2 weeks. I was working out so hard and I kept feeling sick, not sick, sick again. This back and forth business was ridiculous. Throw a trip back home, a weekend of late nights, rich food, a thousand laughs = Jenn needs to chill out. And so I did! But I came back today with a fabulously intense Turbo Jam workout and I felt recharged, renewed and restored! :)

So for Fri-Sun, I'll be sticking with Turbo Jam workouts + Burn Intervals from CE which will set me up beautifully for my next challenge and month 2 of CE!

Speaking of, I have decided the details of my next challenge. I will be maintaining a similar workout schedule (5-6 days of cardio + 3 days of strength training) but this month is going to be focused on trying new things! :) Each week I will be incorporating 3-4 new activities into my routine. I am coming up with a terrific list of new things to try and I will give you my full intended schedule before Monday. It shall be grand! Join me! Let's kick off the season of spring together with fun, energizing and new workouts!

How about some easy + healthy snacks

You would think that with 3 days of rest under my belt and a long weekend of lots of food, that my hunger would be relatively tame this week, right? Right…not the case sweetie. My stomach has been a bottomless pit! I am having 2-3 snacks in between 3 FULL meals each day. It's funny when things like this happen. I used to ignore hunger. I actually had forgotten what true hunger felt like. I was so tight and rigid with my food intake and what I had told myself I would eat on a particular day that it didn't really matter whether I was hungry or not. Not an easy way to live friends, is it?

Today I was catching up on my reading and I stopped by Oh She Glows. Angela wrote about the same exact thing today! I'm so glad that there is someone else out there experiencing the same hunger monster as I am Angela! :)

Anywho, I was rummaging through the fridge today for a snack and I was reminded that in times like this: you need lots of options! When the hunger monster is yelling and you are looking, the decision of what to eat can be very simple if your fridge and pantry is stocked with choices that you enjoy. And lots of them! It makes running to Cold Stone for ice cream not as easy as you hope it would be (yes, I almost did that today.)

You want to open your fridge and see lots of this…

So here is a list of some of my favorite snacks to grab:

Hi Jenn! Love all of your snack ideas. I can't wait to try the banana soft serve sometime! Here are a few more ideas of easy snacks… :)

    -frozen grapes
-low-fat cottage cheese with pineapple mixed in – or your mix-in of choice!
-celery with a bit of peanut butter
-make your own pumpkin yogurt (mix a spoonful of pure pumpkin into your plain or vanilla yogurt, add a dash of cinnamon too!)

And…when you're craving chocolate…low-fat, low-sugar (or fat-free, sugar-free) chocolate pudding made with skim milk (banana slices, strawberries, or a few almonds are fun mix-ins)

  2. Look at you Colleen! Such good adds. :) Thank you! Love the pumpkin yogurt. I think pumpkin should be in the pantry year round!

  3. Wow, that's a nice fridge selection. My fridge is always packed with so many things, it's hard to fit everything. I have to be a really good packer :)

  4. You got that right Susan! :) I wish my fridge was always that stocked…I try to keep it that way but we also like to empty it out before we buy more. Such is life! 😉
