Celebrate today!

Evening over there!

How has today treated ya? I hope well! Tomorrow is hump day which brings us just that much closer to the weekend! And to the month of March. Can you believe it is here already? Madness! Though March means spring is around the corner so I don't care how fast time flies…I WANT MY SPRING! :) (Jenn has been a bit cold this week and is in need of warm, tropical sunshine + fancy drink with an umbrella in it)

Today was one of those days where I could have slept for hours upon hours. I don't know what is going on with this body of mine but it's trying to work something out, that's for sure. I was wide awake and positively wired from midnight to after 1 so getting up at 6am did NOT happen. By the time I pulled myself out of bed I felt groggy, foggy and sloppy. Not my best morning.

After drinking not 1 but 2 green monsters for breakfast and lunch, I finally convinced myself that a good sweat session would help with the head. Well, it did but it kind of didn't. I was totally energized during my cardio session but afterwards…I CRASHED! So I wondered across the street and got myself another fresh carrot + ginger juice and I felt like a new woman! I swear: fruits + veggies + Shakeology + vitamins = natural medicine! I'm a new woman and loving life again!

Formal workout recap

I nailed my Turbo Jam session! No weighted hand gloves today but I rocked it out to some good tunes that I blasted and felt pretty fabulous. Covered the floor in some good sweat. :)

I thought I would do a quick checkin now that I am more than halfway through this workout challenge. In case you aren't familiar with this challenge: it is lasting 30 days but will continue for another 60 until I complete the Chalean Extreme 90 day program. You just wait…after 90 days this body will be stronger than it ever has been!

For giggles I took measurements on day 1. I will post the final 30 days changes but I did some measuring on day 15. Here is the result (I am SHOCKED!)

  • Bust- down 1.5 inches (buggar!)
  • Smallest part of the waist- down .75 inch
  • Waist- down 2 inches
  • Hips- down 1 inch
  • Hips + Buttocks- down 1.5 inches

I mean are those incredible or what!!!!! I started thinking about some of the changes I have made these last 2-3 weeks that would lead to such a marked difference and here is what I think is contributing:

source

1. I began to focus on balanced decisions again. After the holidays I told myself that the wedding was 6 months away and that I wanted to just kick butt and change this body. I created my plan detailing what I was/wasn't going to eat, when/where/how much/in what form. Blah blah blah. Jenn, have you not learned your lesson? We don't respond well to rigid plans! Well, I played this mind game with myself for the entire month of January and then FINALLY I saw the light 2 weeks ago. Small decisions every day that are balanced, focusing on foods that I know my body is energized by and loves and craves.

What has that looked like? A ton of smoothies + Shakeology. I know I keep mentioning that stuff but I'm in love with it so why wouldn't I share it? :) I also have fruit and/or veggies at nearly every meal (because I like them, not because someone told me to). I eat protein that comes from clean sources without the use of antibiotics. All my meats/fish come from Whole Foods or Trader Joes. I eat complex carbs and whole grains. You know the good stuff: oats, 100% whole wheat products, quinoa, buckwheat, barley, etc.

2. I don't freak out. If I have a donut or even two, I simply enjoy it and move on. No freak outs, no promises to not have sugar for months, no crying in the closet, no slapping the hand. I simply enjoy and then I move on! If I didn't want the donut but I had 2 anyways? Well then Jenn and I have a chat. If I wasn't truly in the mood for that food, why in the world did I have it? I address this and then…STILL MOVE ON!

3. No pressure baby. Gosh did I put myself in a crazy frame of mind when all I could think about was the wedding countdown! "Less than 6 months, less than 150 days Jenn. You got work to do!" I reminded myself of how I wanted to feel on that day. It isn't about fitting in x size, looking super thin or being the most beautiful gal there (wait..on this day I get to be that girl, right? :) ). I want to walk down that aisle feeling like a strong and healthy woman. I want to feel in control of who I am. I want to feel all of the love and the emotion that will be felt on that day. Why was I reverting back to old thinking and making my wedding day about physical qualities? When I let that go…everything became easy again!

4. I began to celebrate my days. Whatcha mean Jenn? Well, I have started to celebrate all of the good in my day, EVERYDAY! Pay attention to all of the amazing things you do today rather than on the things we need to fix or do better. Embrace the simple moments of your day. Stop what you are doing and find 5 things that you are proud of today. And celebrate them!

So…are you struggling today with making balanced choices? How can you change your perspective and start treating your body like the wonderful body that it is?

Step back today friends and appreciate everything that you are RIGHT NOW. Not who you want to be or what you want to look like…appreciate you right now. Celebrate that! If you do this, life has a way of falling into the right place. Who cares what your measurements are…celebrate you today and see if there are ways to nourish your body even more!

I must close these eyes friends. I need some extra sleep!

Till tomorrow!
