September reflections

For the past 30 days Tina at Faith, Fitness and Fun has been leading a most incredible movement titled 30 days of Self Love. Through this month, Tina has shared with us posts about self respect, value, power, beauty, reflection and more. It was a month devoted to loving you. Exactly who you are, as you are today.

Very quickly I have become one of Tina’s biggest fans. I find her voice to be inspiring, kind, generous, thoughtful, adventurous and most of all loving.

So today I wanted to share with you some of my thoughts as we conclude the month of September. This month happened to be one of my most difficult in terms of my health, my body and my belief in myself and what I’m doing professionally. Tina was a source of inspiration for me as I refocused my inner voice and energy.

A few reflections for you…

Life is meant to be lived fully, with zest and with desire. I didn’t always feel this way and one day this powerful idea hit me smack in the face. We either decide to live fully or we decide not to. You see, ever since I can remember, my world was filled with a great deal of dislike for myself. Everything was about what I wasn’t. Everything was about not being good enough. Somehow I woke up. By waking up I would either decide to keep living a life of dislike and let all of the good and beautiful pieces of life pass me by OR I could decide to change. I could decide to live in the fullest way possible. And so I began. Everything I do now begins with that desire. Everyday begins with that thought.

Let’s talk change. Keep it simple. Look at your day as an opportunity to make many small choices that better you, your health, your body, your mind, your life. Take the pressure off. Don’t strive for perfection. Simply be YOU and take it one choice at a time.

Treat your body well. Some days this means more sleep. Or a hard workout. Or no workout at all. Or a delicious bowl of homemade soup n salad. Or a plate of oreos. Just treat that gorgeous body of yours well, listen to what it is telling you and it will repay you in most incredible ways!

Consider letting go of the numbers. Whether your numbers are pounds, calories, carbohydrates, protein, clothing size or elapsed time on the treadmill. Consider letting go and instead think about how you feel! Think about what you truly want in a moment. Numbers aren’t your guide.

Surround yourself with joy. Don’t forget about the perfect little things that make you smile. A warm cup of chai tea in the fall, the moment of silence as you hike up a hill, the overwhelming feeling of accomplishment after a workout, laughter with friends, a simple act of kindness. Soak up these moments. Everyday.

Be kind in how you talk to yourself. I want you to ask yourself something: if someone were to playback a recording of your inner voice that speaks to you throughout the day, would it be mostly positive or negative? Is it encouraging or belittling? Is it a source of motivation or a place of frustration? Think about that voice. It should be a source of love and inspiration.

Have fun. Don’t forget the things that make ya laugh! Laugh a lot. Laugh everyday.

Find your passion. Find what makes you leap out of bed, cry with joy, spark with excitement and push through challenges. Discover that passion, harness it and keep it close to you.

So there ya have it. A few of Jenn’s thoughts as we begin a new month. One of my favorite month, mind you! Fall is officially here so be prepared to see more pumpkin, squash, cinnamon, apples, and nutmeg than ever on here! :)

Till next time!

P.S. I woke up early today. Mind you it was 4:15 early for my flight at 7 but I got it! The first step towards my new habit has begun!!!!!

This is such a great post and an awesome way to kick start the month of October. My favorite reflection was the idea of surrounding yourself with joy. I think its so important to remove the things that are toxic in our lives and replace them with the things and the people that bring us joy and draw our inspiration.

Thanks so much Angelica!!!! And thank you for stopping by. :) It's funny that you brought up that reflection on joy as that is something I have to remind myself of nearly every day, every moment even! So much passes us by when we forget to find joy, doesn't it?
